Practise MathematicsStart with the learning problem
Recognising a worked solution is different from producing one. A good Mathematics session asks you to start from a blank page, show each step and check whether the answer makes sense.
Core Mathematics is one of the four core subjects listed by WAEC Ghana for WASSCE school candidates. Use your school’s current syllabus to choose topics. The examples here are original revision exercises, not past WAEC questions or a complete syllabus.
From material to practice
How to get started
Narrow the skill
Pick a topic such as linear equations from your notes. Work through one example, then hide the solution.
Attempt independently
Generate a few related questions in Novari or supply your own paper. Write your reasoning on paper before checking the answer.
Check the first wrong step
Look for sign errors, missing units or an operation applied to only one side. Ask for an explanation of that step and try a fresh example.
Try this approach
Original practice: solve 3x + 5 = 20
Subtract 5 from both sides to get 3x = 15. Divide both sides by 3 to get x = 5. Check by substituting into the original equation: 3 × 5 + 5 = 20.
Check the follow-up answer
Now try 4x + 7 = 31. Answer: x = 6. The same operations work, but you still need to check the result.
Make the session useful
Use flashcards for prompts
A card can remind you when a method applies or what a symbol means. Full problems still need written practice; memorising a solution is not enough.
Keep an error log
Write the question type, the first mistake and the correction. Return to the same skill with different numbers before marking it understood.
